Stratus, a corporation based in Camano Island, Washington, manufactures engines for home-built aeroplanes. The company has been flight testing it's engines for more than a year. One of it's customers has put almost 1000hrs on his Stratus powered Avid Flyer
The engines are completely rebuilt, including changing the camshaft profile so the torque is in a more suitable range. They port the cylinder heads for better breathing capability. A Custom intake manifold is fitted, dual Bing altitude compensating carbs, a lightweight 50 amp alternator, and engine mounts that incorporate Lycoming motor mounts. With the starter and all the accessories, the complete engine weighs 200 lb dry, produces 100 hp at 5400 rpm, and develops a static thrust of 475 lbs.
